Like all other MMO games, the FFXI warrior is the class meant for taking a beating. Using all weapons available and the best armor, they are built to take a hit and survive it. The class is also able to take the hate off of party members and direct it towards them and take the damage while keeping everyone else alive.

I don't know if this counts as an exploit, but
here it is:
A few days ago, I partied with a JPN War/Mnk with a GAXE, who kept
disengaging the mob at every hit, then re-engaging to have very little
weapon delay. I then tried it while soloing, and was able to time it on
almost every hit with this Macro:
/attack off
/wait 1
/attack <t>
You just hit the macro when you attack and greatly reduce weapon delay;
if timed correctly you won't get the "You have to wait longer to use this
command" message.
